Trees are perhaps the most elaborate example we have on our planet of interconnectedness. They know that they can’t thrive alone. With an inherent understanding of working together holistically, either choosing to share or cut off their resources with other trees, they know it is in their best interest to work together. Regardless of species, trees help each other create a more sustainable forest. They understand that any time one of the trees is removed, for whatever reason, it creates a gap. That gap creates stress, and that stress can invite disaster for them.

This is a huge and timely message to humans. We do better when we’re connected to nature and to each other. We, too, need a tribe. In our modern society, we have this belief that we have to do it alone. It’s an absurd concept, really, when you consider that this approach is not true anywhere else in the natural world. Without symbiosis in nature, many ecosystems would suffer and cease to flourish. That’s something humans would do well to remember in our own lives.

The trees know that when we all do better, we all do better. There are mother trees in the forest that will feed trees that aren’t their offspring because they know that supporting the diversity of the community is going to help the health of the entire forest.

Much like we all have totem and power animals, we also have mother trees, particular trees that support us on life’s journey with wisdom, guidance, and healing. It may be an actual tree from childhood or the energy of a tree you have never physically met in this lifetime. Your personal mother tree may be revealed to you through meditation, a dream, or shamanic journeying.

What we consider mystical on some level isn’t really that mystical in the world of nature—it’s quite ordinary. The more we see this interchange as an everyday occurrence in our human lives, instead of a one-off, random happening, the more our lives will change in a positive direction.

We’re being invited by the trees to step into a new understanding of timing, of slowing down. In fact, when you look at the science behind trees, you’ll see the chemical and electrical processes are happening very, very slowly.

When we begin working with trees, we’re being called into a deeper understanding of the flow of our own electrical systems, impulses, and natural rhythm which is slower and more intentional than the rhythm most of us keep on a daily basis. The importance of being in our own natural rhythm is that we’re connected on a deeper level with our intuitive abilities and inner voice. Taking the cue from the trees by slowing down to find our own natural rhythm helps us better receive the guidance coming from Divine intelligence.

Trees show us how to be at peace with Divine timing. They pay attention to the cues in their environment to know whether it is time to put out their seeds or if they should hold onto them for another season. Perhaps the animal population will be down. Perhaps the bird population will be down. Both would allow their seeds a better chance at survival and propagation. They are taking chances on the weather, but all those pieces are being incorporated into the trees’ inner knowing about when to put out new energy for growth. What an incredible message reflected to us in our personal lives.

Trees can imprint their wisdom on us. The sun’s rays of light coming through the trees carry biophotons. Biophotons are simply light that carries information. Trees use this light by converting it to food. As the sun filters through the trees and its leaves, then onto us, we can use this energy of the biophotons to help us with our own inspirations.

You can intentionally go and sit under a tree, where you’re receiving those biophotons through the leaves or the needles of the tree. While you sit there, set a strong intention about whatever you need guidance on in your life. So that you are bridging the gap between the dimensions of what’s going on in your 3D reality, say your intentions in the form of your finances, relationships, connection to source, wellbeing, and health.

You can set an intention to receive guidance to learn more and expand in those areas where you’re feeling constriction, so the biophotons filtering through can communicate with the light in you and imprint wisdom. It’s a way of receiving the information from the tree, but also from all of life force energy that comes through the tree, the sunlight, and the atmosphere.

I have such profound gratitude to the trees for all they have shared and continue to share with me, from guidance in my daily life to taking me under their tutelage to help me better understand the profound opportunity for human and tree collaborations.
