Meet Jonas as your host, author Janis Harper, reads from Chapters 1 and 2 of her visionary novel, Jonas and the Mountain: A Metaphysical Love Story, in this “Meet the Characters” segment of the series.

Jonas is trying to meditate in the meditation hall on retreat at Mt. Arunachala, in South India, but finds it difficult: thoughts about how poorly he has been treated in his past occupy his mind, and these thoughts mutate into questions about victimization, betrayal, and why bad things happen. The narrative then changes to an earlier time and a surprising internal event that rocked his world and, eventually, brought him to India.

Janis Harper is a former adjunct English professor turned expressive arts therapist, as well as a writer, singer-songwriter, and actor. Her lifelong passions for the arts, metaphysics, spirituality, and philosophy come together in Jonas and the Mountain. Although she has published mainly nonfiction, she considers this novel to be the truest work she’s ever written. Janis lives in BC, Canada. For more about her, visit her website: janisharper.ca

Jonas and the Mountain: A Metaphysical Love Story is available in print and ebook at online bookstores everywhere.
