Softly on the ground,
Outside these large
Windows.
Powdered sugar
From a sky white
Distant
Heavenly Grandma,
Adding the last
Touches on her
Frozen earth cake.

Snow means contrast
Cold, luminous, drifting, blowing,
Packing down into icy chunks
Beneath a fluffy top layer,
Covering the whole earth including
Fancy houses, not so fancy houses,
The ground, frozen lakes, tree limbs,
Plants, streets, roads, turnpikes alike,
A great equalizer,
A reality check for those believing
They live somehow bubbled off from
Our natural world,
Rather than intrinsically embedded within,
For those who embrace the snow
Trusting in Spring’s new birth and growth.
Snow reminds us to turn inside and
Out of ourselves with love, from love, because of love.
Each season graces us with
Maternal guidance,
Lessons in
Impermanence, cycles, contradictions,
Biodiversity,
Stunning beauty.
May we learn to cherish
Mother Earth and her snow,
As she continues to offer
Generously, graciously
Timeless teachings.
